Fatal accident at Whittlesea

A 32-year-old man from Mernda died following a single vehicle accident at Whittlesea yesterday afternoon.

The man was driving his car, a blue Commodore Calais sedan, north in Plenty Road about 12.05 pm when the accident happened.

It appears the man was travelling at a fast rate of speed when he attempted to overtake another vehicle, lost control of his car and collided with a tree.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of the accident and have not released the name of the male.

Police are preparing a report for the coroner.
