What do we do?

The role of the Road Safety Awareness and Information Unit is to develop, plan and evaluate road safety legislation, policies and programs in agreement with the Victoria Government Road Safety Strategy.

What services do we offer?

The services offered by the unit include:

  • Providing advice in relation to road safety issues
  • Providing educational support
  • Projects associated with reducing the road toll
  • Recording and providing information and statistics on road fatalities

Operation Countdown

This was a road safety advocacy group run by the private sector business in conjunction with the Victoria Police.

Earlier this year a decision was taken by the board to change the direction of Operation Countdown in its present form for a range of reasons.

Many of the objectives that were at the heart of countdown from its inception are being achieved by the police through its many educational programs, and the Countdown Board felt it was time to seek out a new direction.

This is currently being considered in conjunction with the police.
