Victoria Police Memorial - Kings Domain Gardens


Opened in 2002, the Victoria Police Memorial situated in Kings Domain Gardens, Melbourne, stands as a dedication and constant reminder of the service provided by those brave men and women who have been killed in the line of duty.

The memorial is a tribute to police who have had their lives brought to a tragic and abrupt end. The memorial is a fitting reminder of the sacrifice each have made to provide a safe and secure community.

National Police Remembrance Day: 29 September, 2016

National Police Remembrance Day is a time for members of Victoria Police and the community to honour the dedicated men and women who have died serving their community.

In Victoria, the Blue Ribbon Foundation also holds Blue Ribbon Day on 29 September to coincide with National Police Remembrance Day.

Wall to Wall Ride for Remembrance

The annual Wall to Wall Ride for Remembrance is a national ride from police memorials around the country to the National Police Memorial in Canberra.

Victorian Wall to Wall riders head to the National Police Memorial in Canberra to remember their mates who have fallen.

The ride raises money for Police Legacies across Australia. Victoria Police Legacy (VPL) use money donated to it to support police families in Victoria who have lost a partner or parent.

National Police Remembrance Day services

Friday 29 September, 2017

The National Police Remembrance Day service will be held on Friday, 29 September with a metropolitan service and regional services across the state to recognise police who have died in the line of duty. 

Metropolitan service at 9am

Open invitation to all police members (past and present), their families and the Victorian community to the official service for National Police Remembrance Day.

Participants are to gather in the south-bound service lane on St Kilda Road, between Princes Bridge and Linlithgow Avenue at 9am (step-off) for the parade.

A service will follow at the Victoria Police Memorial, Kings Domain.

Uniform requirements:

  • Ceremonial - long sleeved shirt, tie and salute blue cap; or
  • Operational - full operational uniform and salute blue cap.

Long medals may be worn by uniform and plain clothes members.


End of Day Reflection at 4pm

Springvale Botanical Cemetery is pleased to offer an open invitation to all police members and their families to the official closing of National Police Remembrance Day.

National Police Remebrance Day End of Day Reflection conducted by Senior Police Chaplain Reverend David Thompson.

The End of Day Reflection and the lowering of the Police Ensign will commence at 4pm.

Following the service, afternoon tea will be served at the Clarence Reardon Centre Function Rooms.
