Million Dollar Cold Case

The co-operation of the public is sought to establish the identity of the person or persons responsible for the homicides featured in the Channel 7 Cold Case TV series which commences airing on 15th March 2017. Details of the specific rewards will be published in the Victoria Government Gazette.

A reward of up to one million dollars may be paid at the discretion of the Chief Commissioner of Police, for new information leading to the apprehension and subsequent conviction of the person or persons responsible for the homicides featured in the Channel 7 Cold Case TV series.

When immunity from prosecution is recommended the reward notice will include the following paragraph -

According to established guidelines, the Director of the Office of Public Prosecutions may consider granting an indemnity from prosecution to any person who provides information as to the identity of the principal offender or offenders in this matter.

Any information given will be treated as confidential and may be given at any time to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000

Any payment of a reward will be subject to the applicant signing a deed of confidentiality prior to payment.


Additional information

  • It is the responsibility of the Serious Crimes Rewards Committee to decide on the amount to be paid.
  • The amount paid will depend on the individual circumstances of each case.
  • The rewards are for information leading to the apprehension and subsequent conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of these persons.
  • The rewards are paid out of the Serious Crimes Reward Fund.
  • Rewards will only be paid at the conclusion of all court proceedings.
  • A Deed of Confidentiality must also be signed by any applicant for the reward prior to payment of any funds by the Serious Crimes Rewards Committee.
