About Victoria Police

Brian joined Victoria Police in 1972.   He completed 18 years operational experience before transferring to the Police Bands full-time. 

In 1994 he was awarded a Police Chief Commissioner's certificate for outstanding work with school children.  He is the only Band member to be recognised in this way.

In 1999 he was also awarded a Departmental Commendation for outstanding services to the community – also for his work with the Victoria Police bands.

Brian Carbery’s endless energy and passion for performing has made him an audience favourite for years and he now has quite a following.  Brian Carbery’s name is synonymous with Victoria Police bands.

The newest addition to Code One, Constable Lorena (pron. Lor-wren-ah) Novoa hails from Argentina.
 

With Code One, Lorena’s stage persona is all about dancing, singing and audience communication.  She is the epitome of energy and fun. This girl simply can not stop dancing!  Her infectious enthusiasm never fails to attract and woo any audience lucky enough to fall under her charms.

Lorena Novoa was born with music in her blood. From a very young age she always pursued her dreams and let her voice, creativity and talent take her to the world of music.

Lorena has co-written and recorded many songs with a who’s who in the entertainment industry. She has also recorded many familiar jingles for TV and radio.

Before joining Code One, Lorena was part of television history as a Young Talent Time member for four years.

With a heritage from Mauritius, Rick has accumulated over 20 years of performances in duo, trio and band work. 

He is an outstanding singer and guitarist that Code One is proud to call their own. 

After nearly every performance, Rick has a queue of fans wanting a chat or autograph.

Hailing from New Zealand, Richard made the move to Australia where he gained a B. Mus. Performance from Melbourne University

Prior to joining Code One he spent 10 years teaching in both state and private schools - including VCE level.

With over 25 years experience in the music industry, he has had extensive television and recording experience.

Simon has studied extensively and gained a Dip. Mus. Performance from Melba Memorial Conservatorium and his L. Mus A. in Classical Guitar from Melbourne University
 
Prior to joining Code One he spent 14 years teaching, up to VCE level, in Victorian schools.

Simon has 33 years experience on classical guitar performing solo and in small ensembles.

He has 31 years experience on bass guitar covering many groups and genres from clubs to the Australian Pops Orchestra and, of course, Code One.
