Police investigate Echuca death

Campaspe Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the death of a man following an alleged assault in Echuca last week.

Police were called to reports of an assault involving two men at a property in Echuca in the early evening of 20 May.

Officers attended the scene and located a 51-year-old Echuca man, who was transported to hospital with injuries.

The other man, a 52-year-old from Echuca, was not injured and was spoken to by police at the scene.

He was arrested the following day and charged with intentionally cause injury.

He has been bailed to Echuca Magistrates’ Court on 19 August.

Sadly the 51-year-old man died in hospital on 29 May.

The exact circumstances surrounding the man’s death are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.

It is believed the parties involved were known to each other.
