June Police Life_main

June Police Life takes a look at how the Purana Taskforce detectives finally nabbed Melbourne’s most wanted ‘bigwig’, Tony Mokbel, in Greece.

Read how the fugitive’s paper trail led to his arrest in the seaside village of Glyfada, 15 months after he first left the country and his drug smuggling charges behind.

The week 18 to 22 June is National Drug Action Week; Police Life confronts the burden of drug and alcohol abuse in society, and what Victoria Police is doing about it. Frankston police are put in focus thanks to their determination to save local youth from excessive drug and alcohol consumption. And regular section, True Crime puts the spotlight on the Search and Rescue Squad’s role in supplying evidence in the Australian Federal Police investigation into Australia’s largest heroin haul.

This month’s 90th anniversary of women in policing is celebrated by Police Life, with a glance back in time at the significant role women have played in the force. A section on archives gives particular insight, with individual accounts.

Community policing looks at a day in the life of Castlemaine police station, the heritage town that was also the home of hit policing show Blue Heelers.

Also in this edition, Police Life takes a look at how Frankston police station is working to break the cycle of family violence, goes online with Victorian Police dealing with international internet pornography and spends a day with police educating universities on crime prevention.

This month’s poster features the latest Special Mobile Anti Road Toll (SMART) vehicle, released earlier this year.
