Tree kills houseboat holiday maker - Eildon

A 24 year old man from Thornbury has been killed in a tragic accident at Lake Eildon around midday yesterday.

The man who had been holidaying for the weekend on a friendís houseboat was struck by a tree. The man was on shore in the process of mooring the boat to two trees when a third tree fell, striking the man.

He received head and neck injuries and died at the scene.

Local ambulance attended as well as the Melbourne Air Ambulance, but was unable to revive the man.

The tree which was approximately 13 m high and 200 mm in diameter tree was not one being used as a mooring point.

The area the incident occurred is towards Jerusalem creek.

Local police are investigating and will prepare a report for the corner. The mans name has not been released.
