Pedestrian dies after Abbotsford collision

A 31-year-old  Hampton man has died in hospital after a collision earlier this morning in Victoria Street Abbotsford.

The collision occurred around 2:25 near the intersection of Nicholson Street when the man was struck by a white van while he was standing on the road.

The man was taken by ambulance to the Alfred Hospital in a critical condition however he died later in the morning.

A Greensborough man driving the Ford van was not injured in the collision.

No charges are likely to be laid over the incident.

Police are wishing to hear from the driver of a dark four-wheel-drive or van who they believe may have witnessed the collision or could hold information that may assist them with their investigation.
