Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash in Somerton this morning.
It is understood a truck, which was travelling north on Hume Highway, was involved in a minor collision with a red sedan near Austrak Drive, about 7.45am.
The truck rolled and crashed into a pole.
Police were told the pole then fell onto a silver Honda, which was travelling the opposite way on the Hume Highway.
Emergency services worked on the driver of the Honda, a 21-year-old Kal Kallo woman, but she sadly died at the scene.
The male truck driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The occupants of the red sedan were not injured.
