Relief and Recovery in Corryong

From late 2019 and into this year, Victoria has seen unprecedented bushfire activity across East Gippsland and the North East of the state. In the days and weeks following, Victoria Police deployed hundreds of Melbourne based officers to assist local police in protecting their communities from ongoing threat to bushfire, as well as aiding in the relief and recovery efforts.

The Towong Shire was amongst those regions most effected, and as a result, the town of Corryong received an influx of Victoria Police and other emergency services. These officers were met with such extraordinary strength, resilience and gratitude, and a country spirit that they’ll never forget.
