Our Focus Derby Hill Blue Light Youth CampRelease date: Thu 31 March 2005 Last updated: Thu 4 October 2007 What do we do?Derby Hill Blue Light Youth Camp is an exciting concept developed in cooperation with Victoria Police, the Victorian Government and the Blue Light Organisation. It is an integral part of the Victoria Youth Program. Derby Hill is an accommodation centre located in Maldon. This complex was built in 1987 at a cost of $1.8 million and was specifically designed in the style of the original Derby Hill Gold Mine previously located at the site. The facility has a well-equipped modern kitchen with lounge and dining facilities. There is also a games room and barbecue area. The centre is situated in central Maldon and is within walking distance to shopping facilities. It features nine self-contained units with the capacity to accommodate 70 people comfortably. What services do we offer?Programs for youth staying at Derby Hill are developed and managed by Police members who have experience with and knowledge in youth activities. Maldon itself is a township steeped in history. Located in central Victoria, Maldon was once the site of three thriving gold mines, which were sited on one of the world's richest gold bearing quartz reefs. There are numerous activities, day trips, cycling expeditions and tours available within the township itself. On site activities include mini golf, rock climbing wall, adventure based course, initiative games, archery, bocce and indoor carpet bowls. Off site activities include bike riding, caneoing, yabbying, fishing, gold panning, swimming, tennis and golf (transport can be provided).
