Water Police members are appealing for several members of the public to come forward following the discovery of an unoccupied kayak in Corio over the weekend.

These members of the public, who police believe were also kayaking at the time, located the unoccupied kayak in the vicinity of Limeburners Bay in Corio on Saturday 24 October about 1.30pm.

A subsequent search sadly resulted in the discovery of a deceased 60-year-old man.

As part of the investigation, police would like to speak to the kayakers who made the discovery, as well as any other witnesses in the area.

Anyone with information and or the kayakers are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or log onto www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
