Homicide Squad detectives have today announced a $1 million reward for information surrounding the death of Wantirna South woman Brenda Goudge. 

Today is Brenda’s birthday and sadly at this time of year, two days before Christmas, highlights the tragedy of missing a loved one at this time of year. 

Investigators believe the 61-year-old grandmother was murdered and despite extensive investigations, detectives are still searching for answers. 

Brenda’s body was located on the morning of Friday 8 July, 2011 by a family member and a work colleague after she failed to turn up for work at about 9.50am. 

During the past three and a half years investigators have worked extensively on this case and to date have been unable to provide Brenda’s family with closure. 

Homicide Squad Detective Senior Sergeant Stephen McIntyre is hoping the increase in the reward will encourage someone to come forward with the crucial information that is needed. 

“The reward now stands at up to $1M and I am hoping that someone will come forward to us,” D/S/Sgt McIntyre said. 

“This is a very sad case where a family has lost a much love mother and grandmother in tragic circumstances. 

“We do have a suspect however we just don’t have enough to charge anyone with her murder. 

“I believe there is someone out there who knows what happened and will be able to help us, they just need to come forward.” 

A reward of up to $1 million will be paid at the discretion of the Chief Commissioner, for information leading to the apprehension and subsequent conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Brenda. 

The Department of Public Prosecutions will also consider granting indemnification from prosecution to any person who provides information as to the identity of the principal offender or offenders.
