Deer Park stabbing

Brimbank Divisional Response Unit are appealing for information after a teenager was stabbed during an affray in Deer Park last night.

Officers were first called to the scene following reports of a brawl and possible stabbing involving a group youths at Robert Bruce Reserve on Gould Street about 7.15pm.

When police arrived they found several witnesses and an injured 18-year-old young woman with suspected stab wounds.

The teen was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

At this stage the circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear however it is believed the victim and a friend attended the park to meet up with people known to them, possibly about an online dispute.

Police have been told a brawl broke out which spread out from the reserve onto Gould and Newbury streets and Neal Road.

Officers are also investigating reports another female was assaulted, who didn’t require medical assistance.

Police have identified the victim and have ongoing enquiries to make.
