Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an arson at a display home in Lucas on Monday morning.
It is believed a male offender arrived at the vacant home on Cuthberts Road in a silver ute about 5.30am.
The man forced entry and poured an accelerant throughout the premises before setting it alight and fleeing in the vehicle.
The display home sustained extensive fire and smoke damage.
Detectives have released CCTV and still images of the man to assist with their enquiries.
He is described as having a solid build, around 180cm tall and wearing a navy-blue hoodie, a cap, beige pants and black sneakers.
The silver ute was located in Dowling Street in Wendouree on 29 April.
The investigation remains ongoing.
