Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an arson and attempted arson at two businesses in Tullamarine.
It is believed unknown offenders, driving a white Hyundai Tucson, rammed the gates to the Mickleham Road car wash on Sunday 26 April about 3.45am.
The offenders, believed to be carrying jerry cans, forced entry into the back door of the office area before being spooked by witnesses and fleeing in the Hyundai.
The following morning, unknown offenders forced entry into the rear of a café on Mickleham Road about 2.10am.
The offenders set the business alight before fleeing in a white Hyundai Tucson.
The Hyundai was later found burnt out on Landells Road in Pascoe Vale about 3.55am.
Detectives believe the incidents are linked and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
The investigation remains ongoing.
