Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged two people after they were arrested this morning allegedly acting suspiciously near a restaurant in South Yarra.
Police were called to Toorak Road where the duo were allegedly seen with jerry cans inside a vehicle near the licensed premises just after 3.30am.
Officers were quick to the scene and intercepted the vehicle on Toorak Road and arrested the pair.
A search of the vehicle allegedly located jerry cans, accelerant, an imitation firearm and drugs.
A 31-year-old Sandringham man and a 22-year-old Mooroolbark woman were interviewed by detectives.
The 31-year-old Sandringham man was charged with possess imitation firearm, possess methylamphetamine, use fraudulent registration plates, possess controlled weapon and deal property suspected proceeds of crime.
The 22-year-old Mooroolbark woman was charged with possess imitation firearm, possess methylamphetamine, use fraudulent registration plates, possess controlled weapon and possess drug of dependence.
Both were bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 9 November.
