Victoria Police is offering a $100,000 reward for information on those responsible for the murder of Edward John Young in 2000.

Homicide Squad detectives have re-issued appeals for public assistance to help piece together the circumstances surrounding Mr Young’s death.

Mr Young’s body was discovered in the lounge-room of his home in Princess Street, Port Melbourne, by a visiting nurse at 3.30pm on Monday 3 April 2000.

Mr Young was aged 82 at the time of his death.

He died from several stab wounds.

No clear motive for the murder has been established.

Mr Young was said to be a loner who kept to himself. He had few close friends and no known relatives. He was well known in the local area, residing in Port Melbourne for approximately 25 years.

Information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible will result in a reward, paid at the discretion of the Chief Commissioner.
