Erratic driver nabbed following Port Melbourne crash

Police have arrested a man and seized drugs and cash following a crash in Port Melbourne last night.

Officers responded after a Toyota Kluger wagon struck a dividing barrier on the Westgate Freeway, near the Montague Street exit ramp, about 11.50pm.

Upon arrival, police found the driver had been helped from the damaged Toyota by a passerby.

It is understood the vehicle was seen driving erratically at speed prior to the crash.

Officers searched the vehicle and located and seized an amount of drugs, as well as over $15,000 in cash.

The 19-year-old Hillside man was not injured in the crash and was arrested at the scene.

He will be interviewed in relation to the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
