Fatal crash at Thomastown

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Thomastown this evening.

Emergency services were called to reports of a two-vehicle collision on High Street, near Central Avenue, about 6.40pm.

The male driver of one vehicle died on the way to hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 38-year-old Craigieburn man, escaped injury and was arrested at the scene.

The south-bound lanes of High Street have been closed while detectives examine the crash scene to determine the cause of the collision.
