Fitzroy North aggravated burglary arrest

A quick response by local police has resulted in a man being arrested following an aggravated burglary in Fitzroy North overnight.

Officers were called to a pub on St Georges Road about 1.15am after a resident reported hearing a window being smashed and someone in the bar area.

Police were quickly on scene and cleared the premises but located a 47-year-old man nearby.

Members suspicions were aroused when they noticed the man was hooded, wearing gloves and carrying an ice cold can, which was later confirmed to be from the pub.

The 47-year-old of no fixed address has been charged with burglary, criminal damage, trespass, theft and possess drug of dependence.
