Detectives from Brimbank Divisional Response Unit, along with Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit, have charged four teenagers following a string of alleged offending across Melbourne including a brawl in Port Melbourne on Monday.

It is alleged officers received reports of a fight on Lalor Street and several males hanging out of a white Haval about 3.15pm on 20 April.

When police arrived, the vehicle and those involved in the brawl had fled the scene.

At this stage no victims have come forward to report the incident to police.

Investigators soon established the Haval was allegedly stolen from outside a gym in Clyde North on Saturday 18 April.

The vehicle was spotted by police allegedly travelling on the Westgate Freeway towards Melbourne about 12.20am this morning.

The Air Wing took up observation overhead, while members on the ground closed in on the stolen vehicle.

The Haval stopped in a carpark on Shepparson Avenue in Carnegie where one of the occupants got out and was swiftly arrested.

Three CIRT vehicles quickly boxed in the Haval, taking the three remaining occupants into custody.

A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered several hatchets, a sledgehammer and a steel pole.

A 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl both from the greater Melton area were both charged with theft of motor vehicle and affray.

They will both appear at a children’s court today.

A 16-year-old boy from the Merri-bek area was charged with theft of motor vehicle, aggravated carjacking, burglary and affray and will appear before a children’s court tomorrow.

A 16-year-old boy from the greater Dandenong area was charged with theft of motor vehicle and commit indictable offence whilst on bail and bailed to appear at a later date.

The investigation remains ongoing.
