Further charges following multi-million dollar investment frauds

Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit detectives have today laid further charges in relation to multi-million-dollar investment frauds.

Detectives executed a search warrant on North Road in Ormond about 10:30am and seized documents, mobile phones, computers and electronic devices.

The arrest relates to an alleged scam that occurred in the south eastern suburbs between April and May 2026 .

It is alleged a man, claiming to be an established developer, convinced a victim to obtain finance for a commercial property development.

The man allegedly took money from the victim, with no building works ever proceeding.

It is alleged the man also claimed he was an established flooring contractor and convinced a victim to invest in a flooring business before taking the money.

A 53-year-old Ormond man has been charged with obtain property by deception, theft, commit indictable offence on bail and contravene conduct condition of bail.

Police will seek an application for his remand today.
