Glenroy search as part of investigation into fatal shooting of Athan Boursinos

Detectives from the Homicide Squad are today searching a Glenroy reserve as part of the investigation into the fatal shooting of Athan Boursinos in Wollert last year.

Today’s search of the Jack Roper Reserve, off Camp Road and Ophir Street, follows an appeal for information last week about death.

Detectives believe items connected to the incident may have been dumped in the area.

Police released CCTV of two incidents believed to be connected to the shooting, including a vehicle fire in Reservoir and three men leaving a property in Dallas.

Boursinos was approached by offenders in a laneway behind a Champions Parade, Wollert residential address shortly before 9am on Thursday, 31 July.

He was then shot a number of times and was declared deceased at the scene.

The offenders fled the scene in a waiting stolen Nissan Patrol, which was later found burnt out on Amery Street in Reservoir around 9.15am.

The CCTV previously released shows this vehicle being set alight, with a man captured running from the scene.

Investigators allege three offenders then entered a stolen grey Volkswagen Golf and travelled to an address in Dallas, where three offenders entered a residential address.

An Isuzu D-Max driven by a fourth offender then arrives at the Hampden Street residence.

The CCTV footage shows three men leaving this address and entering the Isuzu D-Max around 11.50am.

The Isuzu D-Max travelled to Reservoir where it’s believed two offenders were dropped off and then continued on with two offenders to the Glenroy area.

Investigators believe a New South Wales organised crime syndicate was likely responsible for the death of Athan Boursinos but that they also received assistance from at least two Victorian men in the form of arranging transport and accommodation.

Detectives previously released images in November 2025 of two men they wished to speak to and they were subsequently identified and have been spoken to.

The investigation remains ongoing.
