Officers from across the state continue to put in the hard yards as they keep the roads safe this long weekend.
Operation Arid runs over the long weekend with police having a highly visible presence in an effort to reduce road trauma, speeding, impaired driving and other traffic offences.
About 1pm on Sunday 8 March officers from Castlemaine Uniform were conducting a laser patrol on the Calder Freeway.
They detected a red Commodore sedan travelling at an alleged speed of 165km/h in a 100km/h zone.
They intercepted the car and spoke to the driver, a 25-year-old man from Kensington man.
His car was impounded with towing costs of $1874 and he is expected to be charged on summons with traffic related offences.
