Melbourne Highway Patrol officers are appealing for public assistance after a pedestrian was struck by a car in Melbourne’s CBD last week.

Emergency services responded to reports of a blue Subaru Liberty colliding with a pedestrian, near the intersection of King and Batman streets, in West Melbourne about 10pm on Wednesday 28 May.

The pedestrian, a 30-year-old man who is a Chinese national, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

It is believed that the driver of the Subaru briefly applied the brakes before taking off from the scene, completely failing to stop and render assistance.

There were a number of vehicles in the vicinity of the collision and police are keen to speak with witnesses and those with dashcam footage.
