Prahran Highway Patrol officers are appealing to the public to help identify a vehicle following a hit-run in Melbourne early hours this morning.
A vehicle described as a white Mercedes SUV was spotted driving erratically before it crashed into several cars near the intersection of Queens Road and Leopold Street around midnight.
The series of collisions caused a power pole to come down, resulting in Queens Road being closed for an extended period.
The SUV did not stop and took off from the scene headed towards the CBD.
Surprisingly, no one was injured.
Police wish to speak to witnesses, anyone with dashcam of the SUV or knowledge of the vehicles number plate.
Those who can help the investigation are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an online confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
Quotes attributable to Senior Constable Daniel Geikowski:
“It is a miracle no one was hurt as a result of this hit-run collision. Looking at the damage and the aftermath, the outcome could have been far worse.
We urge anyone with information about the vehicle to come forward.
If you are the driver of the SUV, do the right thing and hand yourself in to a police station”.
