Hit-run and stabbing following dispute in Piangil - man in custody

A man has been arrested following an alleged stabbing and deliberate hit-run in Piangil, near Swan Hill, last night.

Police were called to reports of a dispute outside a property on Murray Street, where items were allegedly being set on fire and thrown over a fence about 9pm.

It is alleged a man got into a white 4WD and deliberately drove into another man, before crashing into the wall of a property and trapping him under the vehicle.

The offender allegedly got out of the 4WD and stabbed a woman.

The 47-year-old woman, from Piangil, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The 61-year-old Piangil man was transported to hospital by road with serious injuries.

The male offender abandoned the 4WD at the scene and allegedly fled in a white wagon.

The 52-year-old Piangil man self-presented at a police station a short time later.

He was taken into custody to be interviewed by detectives from Swan Hill Crime Investigation Unit.

The parties are known to each other.
