Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding a non-fatal shooting in Altona North on Friday night.
A 37-year-old Spotswood man was sitting with a friend outside a Borrack Square café when a vehicle pulled up outside the business about 7.15pm on 21 August.
It’s understood a man got out of the car and fired a number of shots towards the man, striking him in the upper body.
The vehicle then fled the scene and it is not known at this time how many people were on board.
A number of people were in the vicinity of the café at the time however luckily no one else was physically injured.
Emergency services were called at the victim was treated at the scene before being conveyed to hospital.
At this time police are treated it as a targeted attack and are exploring all avenues to see if there are any links to an earlier non-fatal shooting in Altona North on 16 August.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident and those involved, including the motivation for the attack, to come forward.
Detectives are also keen to speak to anyone who has CCTV or dash-cam footage of the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
