Box Hill Sex Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are investigating an incident in Oakleigh in March.

It is understood a man made lewd comments and directed sexual activity toward a woman on Chester Street, about 2.55pm on 12 March.

The woman was walking along the footpath when she was approached by the unknown man, who made comments about her clothing, explicit sexualised comments and then performed a sexual gesture over his clothing.

The pair had a verbal argument before the female left the area.

She was not physically harmed.

The man is described as having a solid build, a scruffy black beard, wearing a bucket hat, a blue short sleeve polo shirt, black pants and carrying a black and yellow coloured eco-bag.

Investigators have released footage and two images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.
