Melbourne Divisional Response Unit officers have arrested a man today after he allegedly performed a Nazi salute in Southbank last month.

It is alleged the man approached a group of male victims on Yarra Promenade, where he shouted offensive language and performed the Nazi salute about 11.50pm on 14 March.

The group were not physically injured during the incident.

A 22-year-old Cranbourne North man was interviewed and is expected to be charged on summons with grossly offensive behaviour and performing a Nazi salute at a later date.

The investigation remains ongoing.

There is absolutely no place at all in our society for antisemitic or hate-based behaviour.
