A man has been charged after several incidents in Melbourne’s CBD on Monday where women were allegedly groped and threatened.
The 36-year-old has been charged with two counts each of sexual assault and indictable assault police.
The man was arrested in Bourke Street following several calls to Triple Zero (000) about a man who appeared to be randomly assaulting members of the public, some in a sexual manner, near Flinders Street steps about 5.30pm.
Officers from Transit Safety Division and local uniform members quickly responded and arrested the man who allegedly spat at police and assaulted officers during the arrest.
A senior constable from Transit Safety Division, who was injured during the dynamic arrest, was taken to hospital for treatment.
The man has been bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 21 May 2026.
