Man arrested following investigation into threats

Police have arrested a man in relation to a threat made via telephone this afternoon, 21 May.

It’s alleged an unknown man made a phone call to a media outlet in Sydney making a threat of an incident taking place in Bourke Street this evening.

That outlet immediately contacted Crime Stoppers.

Police nominated a person of interest whilst investigating and actively patrolled the CBD.

That man was located at a fast-food restaurant on Swanston Street just after 7.30pm and arrested by uniform police and Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) without further incident.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated but there is no threat to the community at this time.

The 31-year-old man of no fixed address will be interviewed.
