A man has been charged and several firearms, tasers and ammunition seized as part of an investigation into the manufacturing of illicit firearms in Melbourne’s west.
Detectives from the Illicit Firearms Squad executed a search warrant at a Bishop Street residence in Kingsville about 8am on Friday 6 March, arresting a 49-year-old man allegedly manufacturing and storing firearms at the residence.
During the search, officers seized:
- allegedly privately manufactured firearms and parts
- tasers
- a 3D-printed crossbow and firearm
- 3D printers
- a quantity of ammunition
- mobile phones and laptops
The man has been charged with numerous offences including possess prohibited weapon, prohibited person possess imitation firearm and possess equipment to manufacture firearms.
He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 17 September.
