Man charged following assault at St Kilda pharmacy

Police have charged a man following an alleged assault at a pharmacy in St Kilda on Tuesday 28 April.

It is understood a man entered a business on Fitzroy Street about 12pm.

Police will allege the 39-year-old man approached a 65-year-old man inside the business and assaulted him before fleeing the scene.

Last night, the Tarneit man was arrested at a licensed venue in Werribee.

He has since been charged with:

  • Intentionally cause injury
  • Attempted theft
  • Wilful damage
  • Commit indictable offence on bail
  • Possess drug of dependence
  • Armed with criminal intent
  • Possess dangerous article
  • Offensive behaviour.

The man was taken to hospital under police guard, where he was charged and remanded.

He will appear before Wyndham Magistrates’ Court on 1 May.
