Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an armed robbery and assault in Carrum on 4 September.
It is alleged a 46-year-old man parked his vehicle in the vicinity of a football club on Dyson Road in Carrum on around 1pm.
He entered a toilet block to use the facilities when he heard a banging on the toilet door.
The victim opened the door, and a male began assaulting him with a metal pole, demanding his car keys.
The Narre Warren ran from the area and called for help.
The alleged offender drove away in the victim’s car.
The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
A 39-year-old man was arrested on 5 September on Smith Street in Carrum and the victim’s car was recovered.
The Carrum man was charged with armed robbery, theft, theft of motor vehicle, intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury, common law assault and commit indictable offence whilst on bai.
He has been remanded to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 24 November.
