Man charged following Epping death

Detectives from the Homicide Squad have charged a man following the death of a woman in Epping last night.

Emergency services were called to reports of a woman found unresponsive at a property on Gottloh Street about 5.50pm on Thursday, 9 October.

It appeared the 44-year-old Epping woman had been seriously assaulted.

Paramedics attended however the woman died at the scene.

A 50-year-old Rockbank man was subsequently arrested in Epping last night and interviewed by police.

He has been charged with murder and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this evening.

Police will allege the parties are known to each other.
