Police have charged a man after cash and weapons were seized from a vehicle that crashed into several parked cars in Flemington last night.

It is alleged a Subaru WRX was seen driving erratically on its rim in the Flemington area about 8.30pm.

Police spotted the vehicle stationary on Clarence Street before boxing it in and making demands for the driver to get out.

The driver allegedly attempted to flee the scene, crashing into several parked vehicles, before officers effectively deployed a taser and he was taken into custody on Marshall Street.

Police searched the vehicle and seized a jerry can, a baton and OC spray.

An amount of cash, drugs and a taser were also allegedly located on the driver.

A 31-year-old St Kilda man was transported to hospital under police guard.

He has since been charged with 19 offences including intentionally expose emergency service worker on duty to risk by driving, conduct endangering persons, resist police, drive under influence of drugs, as well as several traffic, drug and weapons offences.

He is expected to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later today.

The incident is not believed to be linked to Operation Eclipse.
