Man charged following investigation into manufacture of cloned plates

Detectives from the Vehicle Crime Squad yesterday charged a man as part of an investigation into the alleged manufacturing of cloned registration plates.

A warrant was executed at a residential property on Arnold Street in Sunshine West around 9am on Tuesday, 23 December.

Police seized:

• An Autel device,
• Approximately 50 fraudulent identities and bank cards,
• A stolen Australian passport,
• Eighty manufactured cloned / false plates,
• Equipment used in the manufacture of cloned plates, and
• Cash.

The 37-year-old Sunshine West man was charged with three counts of make false document, possess proceeds of crime (cash), handle stolen goods and possess schedule four poison.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 7 July, 2026.

The investigation remains ongoing.
