Whittlesea Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged ram-raid at a pharmacy in Lalor last night.
Officers responded after a white Rav 4 was used to gain access to the business on Lorne Street about 10.45pm.
Police will allege a 19-year-old Lalor man stole a large amount of medication before fleeing the scene.
The business was closed at the time of the incident.
The Rav 4, which is alleged to have been stolen from Southbank on the 14 April, was later located burnt out on Brock Street in Thomastown.
The man was arrested in Lalor yesterday afternoon before a search warrant was executed.
He has since been charged with:
- Aggravated burglary
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Theft
- Fail to stop vehicle on police direction
- Fail to stop vehicle after a collision
- Criminal damage by fire (arson)
- Possess drug of dependence
- Possess prohibited weapon
- Unlicensed driving
- Commit indictable offence whilst on bail.
He was remanded to appear before the Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on 23 April.
