Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Lyndhurst last year.

Emergency services were called to the Westernport Highway to reports of a collision involving two cars and a truck about 4.40pm on Wednesday, 11 December.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 66-year-old Cranbourne man, died at the scene.

The driver of the Kia and the driver of the truck were not seriously injured.

Detectives have today charged a 39-year-old Endeavour Hills man with:

  • dangerous driving causing death
  • destruction of evidence
  • drive in a manner dangerous
  • careless driving
  • touching a portable device while driving.

He was bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 3 November.
