Man charged following stabbing in Wangaratta

Wangaratta Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a woman was stabbed in Wangaratta this morning.

The 29-year-old has been charged with intentionally cause serious injury, recklessly cause serious injury, intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury, unlawful assault, assault with a weapon and theft.

The charges follow a dispute between neighbours and an alleged stabbing on Speed Street on Wednesday 15 April about 7.20am.

A 53-year-old Wangaratta woman was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.

The Wangaratta man was arrested on Weir Street in Wangaratta just after 9am.

He has been remanded overnight to appear before Wangaratta Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
