Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad charged a man after an armed robbery at a licensed venue in Traralgon last month.
Investigators allege the man, armed with a knife and bottle of flammable liquid, attended the venue on Grey Street shortly before 11pm on Wednesday 5 August.
The man allegedly accessed the cash registers, stealing a quantity of cash.
The man poured the liquid over the floor, cash registers and bar area before slipping in the liquid, subsequently dropping a quantity of the cash and fleeing on foot.
Two staff members inside the premises at the time were not physically injured during the incident.
A 28-year-old man was arrested by NSW Police’s State Crime Command Robbery and Serious Crime Squad.
Armed Crime Squad detectives travelled to NSW on Wednesday 2 September, following the arrest of the man in Cabramatta on Tuesday 1 September.
Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad sought the man’s extradition to Melbourne, which was granted by the court.
The 28-year-old was charged with:
- armed robbery
- commit indictable offence whilst on bail
- breach conduct condition of bail
- intentionally expose an emergency worker on duty to risk by driving (x4)
- conduct endangering death
- disqualified driving
He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
