Today’s arrest follows an investigation by the Illicit Firearms Squad into trafficking of illicit firearms and drugs.

On Sunday, 31 May detectives located a vehicle in Williamstown and seized 13kg of methylamphetamine found inside the car.

No one was in the vehicle at the time of the search.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Quotes attributable to Detective Inspector Julie MacDonald, Illicit Firearms Squad:

“Today’s arrest highlights the importance of these investigations and the work of police to remove illicit firearms and drugs from the community.

“Both of these commodities can have deadly consequences when they fall into the wrong hands and we are lucky that today’s matter was ultimately resolved without incident.

“This is also another example where we see illicit drugs and firearms go hand in hand.

“Detectives from the Illicit Firearms Squad will continue to target those who trade involved in this offending and urge anyone with information to come forward and speak to police.”
