Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Doveton this morning.
Attending officers were told a man ran from the vicinity of a stationary car on the side of Monash Freeway, into the path of a city-bound car, about 5.25am.
The man, who is yet to be formally identified, was struck by the travelling car and died.

The driver of the car stopped immediately.
Investigations are ongoing into the circumstances of the collision.
