A Narre Warren man has had his car impounded and will face a magistrate after allegedly exceeding the speed limit by more than 80km/h in Oakleigh yesterday afternoon.
Officers from Glen Waverley were patrolling Warrigal Road as part of Operation Nexus when they detected a BMW travelling at a fast rate of speed about 4.30pm on Monday 6 April.
The vehicle was allegedly detected at 141km/h in a 60km/h zone, more than double the speed limit.
Police intercepted the vehicle and spoke with the 24-year-old driver.
His vehicle was impounded for a period of 30 days at a cost of $999.50.
He is expected to be charged on summons.
The impound forms part of Operation Nexus, a statewide road policing operation conducted over the Easter long weekend.
Police had a highly visible presence across Victorian roads in an effort to reduce road trauma, targeting speed, impaired driving, fatigue and distraction offences.
The operation commenced on Thursday and concluded last night.
