MCIU Investigate fatal motorcycle collision in Dandenong South

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fatal collision involving multiple motorcycles in Dandenong South Saturday evening.

Emergency services were called to the South Gippsland Freeway scene following reports four motorcycle riders had been involved in a collision, on 14 June about 7.15pm.

Sadly one of the riders, a male believed aged in his 20s, died at the scene.

One of the three remaining riders was taken to hospital with serious injuries while the other two male riders, who were also transported to hospital, escaped serious injury.

Detectives believe the motorcycles involved were travelling north on the freeway headed to Port Melbourne, as part of a group of up to 40 other riders, when the collision occurred.

The road will be closed northbound throughout the early hours of Sunday morning while MCIU detectives process the scene.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or motorists with dashcam who were in the vicinity of the group Saturday evening to please come forward.
