In 1981, Haroula Kipouridou was found murdered in Richmond, Melbourne.
As part of our ongoing investigation, the Homicide Squad is appealing to the public for information.
At the time of her death, Haroula was 25 years old and worked as a singer at a hotel in Fitzroy.
Police have established that after working on the night of Friday 3rd of July, 1981, she'd been given a lift home to her Elizabeth Street address.
Two associates dropped her off at her Richmond flat about 2am, and didn't notice anything suspicious.
Sadly, about half an hour later, Haroula’s body was found in a lift inside the tower.
She had been severely physically and sexually assaulted.
Over the past four decades, detectives have spoken to several people in relation to Haroula’s death.
However, police have been unable to identify who the offender or offenders may have been.
Shortly after her death, a $50,000 reward was announced, with this reward being increased to $1 million in 2025.
While over 40 years have now passed, detectives remain committed to finding those responsible for this violent attack.
People’s circumstances may have changed over the years, and police are again appealing for anyone with any information, any detail, regardless of how small, to come forward.
This could be just the piece of information investigators are looking for.
Anyone with information about Haroula’s death is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential online report at Crime Stoppers.
