Melbourne East police address homelessness - Part 1

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, more than 24,000 Victorians are homeless on any given night and rough sleepers only make up a small percentage. It’s a huge problem and it’s one that is largely hidden. The nature of police work means that police officers regularly come into contact with people experiencing homelessness.

As part of Homelessness Week 2018, in a two-part series, we explore the work being undertaken by Melbourne East Police to enhance their understanding of the issue. As they remind us, there’s no offence to be homeless.
